Magnets 03:42
Magnets © 2003 Sam Maynard Time Signature: ¾ Tempo: 188 BPM Verse 1: In a crowded room, I found all your pieces Where small was a place to begin. In the cleared out space on the flat of your face, I spread all your pieces out thin. There was red, there was green, there were hues in between, But the mood was still lost in the blue. I hear this relation, like loose association. I question what lurks inside you. Bridge: And no matter what's been said, a needle still pulls your thread. When it all comes undone, do you know where you run? Refrigerator magnet conversation Refrigerator magnet conversation Chorus 1: Ah, don't take it all down, Just move it around. Verse2 They whispered their thousand white pictures. As their scrambled language unwinds, They boil hot wax symphony music, While eggs sit in silence behind. You can move it around, don't dare take it down. If you try making sense, you will lose, And your lips be sealed by the magnetic field, while the pieces make sense out of you. Bridge Chorus 2: Ah, just move it around, Don't take it all down. Ah, don't take it all down, Just move it around.

Kamikaze Fruit Fly © 2018 Sam Maynard First she flew into my coffee Just to fuel up for the day But she didn't wanna linger when I pointed her a finger, So my fruit fly flew away. Her moves were so erratic while she did her aerobatics, Hard to follow with my eyes Then a barrel roll later she was buzzin' on a tater When she started crackin' wise. Yeah, she started crackin' wise. She said “I want some conversation” As she flew into my wine. So I asked her where she's going, and she told me I'd be knowin' When she feels it's proper time, not until it's proper time. “The thing that I be seekin' isn't something you find leakin' out of any common vine. I gots me a necessity for very special recipe That gets me every time. Yeah, it gets me every time. She said “I'm checkin' out your table, And this is what I think: I see a little chicken wing that would be my favorite thing If you dump it in your drink, go on and dump it in your drink.” I thought it was disgusting when I found out she was lusting, For a thing that I'd decline. But the kamikaze fruit fly in my Chicken Margarita Said “Come in, the water's fine, Come on in, the water's fine!” Don't go twistin' all the history to solve another mystery and birth another myth, If you ever untangle it, where you gonna dangle it, and what ya gonna end up with? Yeah, now whatcha gonna end up with? At the height of my anxiety I'm givin' up sobriety so I can sleep at night, And the kamikaze fruit fly in my chicken margarita Won't go down without a fight. Don't go down without a fight. So we shared our crazy cocktail And she challenged me to race And she started chuggin' down and splashin' all around Then she got up in my face. “I'm a kamikazee fruit fly and I know my end is near. If you'd just start drinkin' 'least I'll know where I be sinkin' And we got nothing to fear. No, we got nothin' to fear. So at the height of my anxiety I gave up my sobriety After her last flight. Then the kamikaze fruit fly in my chicken margarita Finally said “good night”. Yeah, she finally said “Good night”.

Wannabees 04:10
Wannabees (c) 2015 Sam Maynard Looking through the perfect lens, Sorting out the real friends Some were headed for the door While others hung around for more Who'll be left when all is done? Now there's a guess for anyone. Draggin' your ass, you're on the run, Don't waste the time to load your gun. Chorus: Satisfy infinity, We're all a bunch of wannabees Easy come and easy go Might let you in what you know Satisfy infinity, We're all a bunch of wannabees, Anyway you wanna roll You go where you can pay the toll. I saw Jesus in a tree He didn't say a word to me I saw Jesus in my toast He looked just like a holey ghost Seven crosses, seven seas Would someone pass the butter please? Draggin' your anchor on the run Don't waste the time to load your gun. Chorus Some give up and some move on Some just passin' their baton If you want a guarantee You'll have to give your world to me Leavin' it all to plant a seed, Then in between the lines you read Draggin' your ass, you're on the run Don't waste the time to load your gun. Chorus

Light of Day 04:23
Light of Day © 2017 Sam Maynard Every time your face turns to stone It almost makes me smile. Every time you leave me alone It feels good for a while. Maybe now is not the best time To throw yourself away. Never mind the places you've gone, They don't matter anyway. Ever see the light of day while your head's in the sand? Tell me what it's like in there, cause I don't understand! Every day your lies move closer to a darker night. Make it right, or make it over. Save yourself a fight. Nothing's lost, but nothing is gained When you look the other way What's the use, you might go insane If the game won't let you play Maybe now is not the best time. To save yourself for rain. Maybe now you'll change your whole line Of ever-changing lanes. Ever see the light of day while your head's in the sand? Tell me what it's like in there, cause I don't understand! Every day your lies move closer to a darker night. Make it right, or make it over. Save yourself a fight.

Someone Else's News © 2005 Sam Maynard A thump on a porch step tries to wake the dead, Still trippin' over pages 'fore they ever get read. Icons and theme songs, tainted points of view, All rollin' on the coaster where the rumors are led. She'll take you on a thrill ride, then leave you for a dime, And she'll tell the little people where they can stand in a line. The story written backwards, is the myth behind her eyes, It's as tempting to believe in as it's full of surprise. Chorus: While you wait the wheels are turning So catch the last train. Look away a fire is burning, While you are standing out in the rain. Are the vines that move your water Comin' from the same place as your well? How many times do you remember Trippin' over your own words to tell: . . .Someone Else's News . . . .Someone Else's News. In a perfect little package delivered like a plan There's a million little fragments scattered out in the sand. You might hear them laughing when her story finally ends. If you take it all too serious, you're already damned. Did she send you out a message through the bottle in your hand? Did she tell you all her secrets so you'd understand? And do you really think it matters to the people in the line? They've been waiting there forever, so they won't mind. (Chorus)

Take It Or Leave It © 2001 Sam Maynard Verse 1: Before the cover got blown away, We saw the writing on your wall. How could you win before your game was playin'? Could you even answer to a call? Oh, the more I think about it, the less you have, And we're not after what you own. So fool yourself cause you fool no one else. We just want to send you home. Chorus: Take it or leave it, there's a useless choice. We don't believe what's comin' from your voice We release the flame, but hold on to our torches, Until you fade away. . . Verse 2: We don't mind if you have your way, As long as you have it to yourself. Our restitution is on the way. To say anymore might be to tell. Chorus: Take it or leave it, there's a useless choice. We don't believe what's comin' from your voice We release the flame, but hold on to our torches, Until you fade away. . .

Race 03:49
RACE © 2017 Sam Maynard Key of D, ¾ time Intro: (2X) A F D(F#Bass) A F D D F G I was time travelling in the clouds D F G A Flew into a thread that said “You'd be better off dead.” D F G So I said “You know, since I'm allowed, D F G A think I'll just float on over into the next cloud” And the cloud next door had so much more But all the pinks and the blues left me kind of confused Like being pushed along by everything you've ever done, and pulled along by everything you thought you had to do . . . D F G . . .just to stay on the treadmill A F D(F#Bass) The madness of this contest is a waste. A F D And who contrived the madness of' this pace? A F D(F#Bass) With all the noise that's thrown into your face, A F D Just 'cause your human don't mean it's a race. So I jumped off the treadmill, into the next cloud. Flew into a thread that said “rainbows ahead”. But none of these hues made me at all confused. It was more like a deer in the headlights, but there was no car, no truck, no danger. As a matter of fact it was exactly what it lacked that made it . . . . . .beautiful. A F D(F#Bass) The madness of this contest is a waste. A F D And you decide which differences you make. A F D(F#Bass) With all these colors showing you their face. A F D Just 'cause your human don't mean it's a race.

Abuse 04:15
Abuse © 2004 Sam Maynard Sometimes I just don't see the forest through your trees. Can't find the message in the picture you paint for me. Don't want to feed you any writing on your wall. Don't want to read, don't want to find out where I fall. No reason to believe that anything is other than fine. So shove your dirt under the rug. Take what's yours, I'll take mine. Where you go, what you do, Don't need that out of you. I'm down the road out the door, but what I really want is more abuse, More abuse, more abuse, more abuse. Sometimes the way you walk makes me insane. Why do I always chase the things that bring me pain? Next thing you know I'm gonna lose all control, but that's okay, it's what I wanted you to know. No reason to believe that anything is other than fine. So shove the dirt under the rug. Take what's yours, I'll take mine. Where you go, what you do, Don't need that out of you. I'm down the road out the door, but what I really want is more abuse, More abuse, more abuse, more abuse.
